Orthodontic is a technologically advanced branch that offers solutions to malocclusions (irregular and poor closure) and other cosmetic problems. The orthodontist generally evaluates the exact cause of the noncompliance by performing the visual inspection, panoramic x-rays, and working patterns (biting representations). When a diagnosis is made, various orthodontic treatment options are available.

An overview of some of the most common treatments:

Initial treatment: The treatment usually does not start until adult teeth are fully developed, that is, until the child is about 12 or 13 years old. In some cases, treatment may begin after a few years if dental problems have not been recognized before.

The children with cleft lip and palate may require orthodontic treatment before the development of the adult teeth.

Good oral hygiene is essential for any orthodontic work to begin. When the devices are placed on the teeth, food particles are more likely to be trapped between the teeth; As treatment continues, the patient needs to be brushed more often to prevent tooth decay.

The patients who have not reached good oral hygiene standards suffer from tooth decay even after treatment has started.

Evaluation of diagnosis: The orthodontist will assess the condition of the patient’s teeth and make an estimate of how they can develop without treatment. And the following diagnostic procedures will be performed:

– Full medical and dental health history
– Clinical examination
– X-ray of teeth and jaw
– Dental Gypsum models of teeth

After the assessment, the orthodontist will decide on a treatment plan.
